Jamaica and Maíz is an anti-racist outlet for Indigenous and Afro-Mexican people from the peripheries. Our mission? Promote identities to create collectivity, inform about the rights of Indigenous and Afro-Mexican individuals and communities, make population statistics visible and create safe spaces of visibility with cultural activities for the community.

Tinta Periferica: Narratives from the resistance

The focus of the Tinta Periférica Project is to strengthen the leadership, recognition of identity and enforceability of rights of 15 Indigenous and Afro-Mexican young people aged 18 to 29 from the peripheries of Mexico City and Edomex. Through a hybrid, formative process of popular education and a laboratory of creative writing and collage, students will co-create an illustrated digital book that works as a tool of political and community advocacy and for transforming narratives in the face of structural racism.
